Tamgha-e-Imtiaz Awarded to
Dr. Maqsood Ahmed

The coveted civil award ‘Tamgha-i-Imtiaz’ was announced for Lieutenant(R) Dr. Maqsood Ahmed, the able and dutiful officer of Sindh Police by Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, President Islamic Republic of Pakistan on the Independence Day, in recognition of his outstanding services. This award was conferred on him for his outstanding professional skills and invaluable services to the Police Department, especially in the field of security.

Dr. Maqsood Ahmed joined the Police Services in 2001 as Assistant Superintendent of Police and was posted / deployed in various provinces of Pakistan. He managed and monitored numerous gatherings of national and international significance under the present crucial situation and new challenges of violence and terrorism, ensured 100 percent attendance of prisoners in the honourable courts where their cases were under trial, carried out his duties during annual religious festivals and performed extremely well in providing protection to important personalities. Keeping in view, his professional acumen and dedication, he was entrusted the job of establishing a special security unit in Sindh Police for the protection of VIPs. Because of his creativity and deep insight, the police force selected for this new unit is being equipped with latest arms and ammunition. Presently, he is serving as Assistant Inspector General of Police Security Sindh.

It is the fourth-highest decoration given to any civilian in Pakistan based on his or her achievements in the fields of literature, science, medicine and sports. While it is civilian award, it can also be bestowed to military officers of the pakistan Armed Forces, as well as to foreign citizens who have provided services to the country

On 75th Independence Day of Pakistan, the chief of Security and Emergency Services Division DIG Dr. Maqsood Ahmed is conferred with Quaid-e-Azam Police Medal (QPM) on his valour, extraordinary leading capabilities and meritorious services for the Police Department by the President of Pakistan.

Dr. Maqsood Ahmed is presently serving as Deputy Inspector General of Police, Sercurity & Emergency Services Division, Karachi. Served the police department in various positions and locations. Has been honoured with Tamgha-e-Imtiaz for his outstanding services and professional skills.
